Here's a basic recipe for making delicious homemade onion rings:

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/3 cup corn starch

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 2 cups bread crumb

  • Cold water as required

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

  • Optional: Additional seasonings like paprika, garlic powder, or onion powder for extra flavor

Instructions:

  • Prepare the Onions:

    • Peel the onions and cut off the ends.

    • Slice the onions into rings of your desired thickness. Separate the rings and set aside.

  • Prepare the Coating:

  • In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and corn starch.
  • Pour cold water into a flour mixture and whisk it until no lumps remain.
  • Coat the Onion Rings:

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer.
  • Dip each onion ring into the batter, making sure it's well coated. You can use a fork to help with this process.
  • Finally, coat the onion ring with breadcrumbs, pressing the breadcrumbs onto the onion to ensure they adhere well.
  •  Place the coated onion ring on a plate and repeat the process with the remaining rings.
  • Fry the Onion Rings:

  • Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil.
  • Fry the rings for about 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the onion rings from the oil.
