They are often associated with the holiday season but can be enjoyed anytime you crave a flavorful and comforting cookie. Jam Tart

 A jam tart is a delicious pastry treat typically made with a sweet short crust pastry and filled with a layer of jam.  Here's a simple recipe to make jam tarts:


Ingredients:

  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 10g sugar powder
  • 10g milk powder
  • 10g custard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk if needed
  • Jam of your choice (strawberry, raspberry, apricot, etc.)
Instructions:

  • In a medium-sized bowl, sift together together the flour, milk powder, and custard powder. Set this dry mixture aside.

  • In a separate large bowl, mix the butter and powdered sugar together using a hand mixer or a whisk until it becomes light and fluffy.

  • Add the vanilla essence to the butter-sugar mixture and mix well.

  • Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and mix everything together until the dough starts to come together. If the dough is too dry, you can add one tablespoon at a time of milk until it holds together.

  • Keep the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  • Preheat your oven to 145°C and grease a tart or muffin mold.

  • Dust the marble top with flour and roll the dough lightly to 1/4" thickness.

  • Cut the dough with a biscuit cutter or glass that is the same size as the tart mold.

  • Gently press each circle of dough into the cavities of the mold, making sure to press it against the edges.

  • Prick each tart with a fork to make some small holes. This will prevent the tarts from puffing during baking.

  • Fill the jam into a piping bag. Fill each pastry case approximately halfway with your favorite jam.

  • Fill each tart with jam up to halfway.

  • Bake the jam tarts in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown.

  • Remove the tarts from the oven and let them cool in the tin for a few minutes.

  • transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Once cooled, serve and enjoy your homemade jam tarts!

 Experiment with different types of jam flavors to find your favorite combination. It's a delicious treat for afternoon tea or any time you crave a sweet and fruity pastry.
