French Fries

French fries, simply referred to as "fries," are a popular side dish or beloved snack made from potatoes. They are typically cut into thin strips or wedges, soaked in water to remove excess starch, and then deep-fried until they become crispy and golden brown.




Here's a basic recipe for making homemade French fries:


Ingredients:


  • 4 large russet potatoes

  • Vegetable oil

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional seasonings (such as paprika, garlic powder, or herbs)


Instructions:

  • Prepare the Potatoes:

  • Wash and peel the potatoes. 
  • Cut the potatoes into uniform thin strips. You can make them as thick or thin as you like.



  • For crisp fries Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water.
  • Let them soak for about 30 minutes to remove some of the starch.
  • Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. 
  • The drier they are, the crispier they will become when fried.

Fry the Potatoes:
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer.
  • Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry them in batches if necessary.
  • Fry for about 2-4 minutes, or until they're golden brown and crispy.
Note: The exact time can vary based on the thickness of the fries and the temperature of the oil.

  • Use a spider strainer to remove the fried fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • Sprinkle the salt on the fries while they're still hot.
  • Also add other seasonings if you like, such as garlic powder, paprika, or herbs.


Homemade french fries are best when served hot and crispy. with your favorite dipping sauces or condiments, such as ketchup, or mayonnaise. 🍟
